Current Vacancy - Web Development Manager
We're looking for a excellent Web development manager to join our great team at IE
IE is an award winning digital agency in Birmingham and is recruiting for further growth.
We've probably got the best studio environment in the region with our fiercely defended values. A friendly family atmosphere, Monday - Friday 9-5.30 (if you need to work longer you get paid overtime!), table tennis and fresh coffee. It's a beautiful open plan office in the Jewelery Quarter of Birmingham and we're team of 13.
Objectives:
- Production/Quality - Maintain and improve the quality and profitability of all web development work
- People - Invest in and develop the technical and general business skills of the Web Development Team
- Clients - Develop excellent working relationships with clients
Responsibilities:
Production/Quality
- Meet with clients, define project parameters, ensure correct briefings, quote costs, and produce proposal documents
- Be the first port of call for any project/technical queries both internally and externally
- Be involved in technical development work
- Ensure smooth running of the workflow of the web development team
- Alongside the Project Manager, be responsible for planning and booking work through team members
- Delegate ownership and engender a sense of responsibility to ensure that work is completed and deadlines met
- Liaise with the Directors, Project Manager and the Design/Interactive teams
- Maintain communication through Periscope
- Ensure quality and proficiency of all web development work
- Improve quality by developing own skills, tracking industry trends, and writing articles and book reviews to establish IE as market leaders in the digital services industry
- Develop innovative ideas and concepts both through the team and where necessary through independent work
- Communicate to clients that the team is responsible for quality and delivery, and give credit for success to other team members as much as possible

- Fulfil role as ISO9001 Quality Manager for the company
People
- Line manager of the development team.
- Developing staff and releasing potential.
- Help set individual development targets and goals
- Be available to the team
- See questions as learning opportunities
- Strategically grow the skill set by running IE Master Classes and Kaizen events
- Identify opportunities to develop the team's general business knowledge
- Grow own skills, by participation in internal training sessions and external seminars/conferences
- Appraising staff.
- Running entrance and exit interviews
Clients
- In addition to client responsibilities included above:
- Present work to clients when appropriate
- Continually watch for opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell to existing clients.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering significant web development projects using object oriented technologies on a LAMP architecture.
Salary: c £30K / annum
