IE shortlisted for Cream Award 2011
IE is delighted to have been shortlisted for a coveted Cream Award for 'Best Use of Photography'. The Cream Awards celebrate and reward the very best creative work to come out of the Midlands, East, South West and Wales. There are some great entries this year and we are up against some fantastic talent.
The job that's been shortlisted is a cracker. London based international charity SGM Lifewords asked IE to design a booklet entitled 'Jesus: An Introduction'. SGM and IE were determined to approach the subject with a fresh eye – no beards, no sandals, no doves and no rainbows! Inspiration came from the opening copy which reads: 'The stories in this book all share a common thread: a life-changing encounter with Jesus.'
IE pitched the idea of illustrating every encounter between Jesus and the many people he met with knotted chord! Everything from butcher's string to garden string, leather chords to gold thread. And the knots... alpine butterfly bends, angler's loops, savoy knots, alpine coils, highwayman's hitches and rigger's bends – to name but a few. Talented IE intern and chief knot researcher, Pascaline Piot, even crafted a beautiful fishing net from nothing but a ball of string and a pile of beads from the haberdashery at Birmingham's very own Rag Market.
Kellé Cox took the stunning photos and built the final layouts.
Credit must also go to SGM Lifewords for running with the somewhat quirky, high risk approach that we pitched to them. We love an adventurous client!
The judging panel was led by Pete Martin from The Gate who was joined by David Booth Creative Consultant at Booth, Ben Casey Creative Director at The Chase, Aileen Geraghty Managing Director at 999 London and Patrick Harvey from Love.
We're all thrilled and are looking forward to a glittering evening of glamour at the award ceremony on 23 November – not to mention the prospect of walking away with yet another award to add to our burgeoning collection!
Fingers crossed...
