Common sense, common technology, great learning opportunities

How wonderful to see the TES giving top level exposure to the use of banned technologies in the classroom. And I’m not talking about tasers, CS gas or pepper sprays as implements for controlling undesirable behaviour in the classroom.
Mobile phones have been banned by many schools - and for all sorts of reasons. Worries of theft or breakage, text bullying, unwanted photography and video creation (and sharing of course on You Tube, Facebook and so on. How refreshing then to read about schools who have turned this stance on its head - using an almost ubiquitous technology thatĀ the school hasn’t even had to pay for to aid learning, engageĀ young people in learning and with a knock on effect of reducing the potential of text bullying and other hitherto thought nasty uses. Definitely worth a read for a quick snapshot of everyday technology making an extraordinary contribution to learning. Keep Plugging!
