Future of Web Apps (FOWA) 2008

Here at IE we pride ourselves on being up to date with exactly what is happening in the industry. For this reason the last two days have seen members of the web team down at Excel in London attending Europe’s leading conference on web applications, Future of Web Apps 2008.

A packed schedule of talks from some of the biggest names in the web industry including Kevin Rose (Digg), Blaine Cook (formerly of Twitter) and of course Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Continue reading

Every couple of months our design team has a Kaizen day. For those who have never come across this term it translates from Japanese as Continual Improvement. The idea is for us all to share ideas, inspiration and learn in whichever random way we see fit.

I have always been a lover of photography. Other than our own memory it is the next best thing to recording momentus events. Ultimately the freedom that photography offers us now is amazing, especially when aided by some creative software. Continue reading

Build your own Mac

It took a team of students 14 hours to build a mac.  Why did it take so long to build i hear you ask? Its because the entire case was constructed out of lego.

2588 lego bricks were used in its construction.

The examples are plentiful, and range from Simon Patterson’s 1992 work The Great Bear to David Shrigley’s more abstract representation of the arrangement of intersecting coloured lines.
